306 alarm - help!

Hi, I have the 306 'alarm intermittently goes off for no reason' problem. When I use the steering column switch to turn off the interior alarm then it stops going off for no reason, so it must be the interior sensors. Has anyone had this problem and fixed it?

I have read that you should make sure all vents are closed as the sensors are sensitive to air pressure/movement. I have also read that removing and replacing the alarm units fuse, in the fuse box, has made the same problem go away on other peoples cars.

I have tried shutting the vents but that makes no difference, haven't tried removing the fuse yet.

Any other ideas, before I try that?

Cheers, R.

The siren being waterlogged also can cause random alarm activations but this sounds like a faulty ultrasound sensor if disabling the sensors stops the problem.

I did have a problem with my alarm on a 96 405. Probably the same basic system. The alarm went off at random

I found that one of the interior lights was switched to the "off" position. Restoring this so that all the interior lights were lit when doors opened fixed the problem.(Don't ask me why) . Using the alarm key on the 405 only disables the siren. It will still flash the headlamps if it activates.

Other than that, get replacement sensors from a scrapyard and see if that makes a difference. Peugeot charge the most outrageous prices for spare parts.

I had a Laserline system fitted to an older 405. Very reliable and being wireless, much more secure.

Ask if you can have the alarm disabled(405 alarm can be disabled) maybe depends on the year of your 306

The imobiliser protecting against theft of the car would seem to be enough and the dash LED will still flash although it only operates the C/L with the plip.

another point about getting a laserline fitted is the lifetime warranty
