Hi Guys,
I've got a bog standard 90bhp T reg 306 HDI.
When under heavy load, eg foot to the floor up a hill at between
1500-2500rpm, it makes a noise that can best be described as the noise you'd get from a petrol engine, when it was pinking. But obviously, being a diesel engine, its not pinking...
It only does it when under heavy load, and as soon as you lift off the throttle, the noise stops. Its not a loud noise, and cant be heard at all when in neutral, bonnet up style.
Could be my imagination, but I think its worse when the engine is cold.
Other plausible suggestions were the injectors, or the fuel pump.
Anyone got any ideas or similar experiences?
Much appreciated, Ed
