307 low fuel warning

2002 307 1.6 Rapier (petrol)

The low fuel warning came on the other day, and the 307 managed about 300 yards before expiring.

Now this is strange. Not in the habit of letting the fuel get so low, but it has happened once or twice over the years, and the 30 miles it suggests you can go in the handbook has been realistic.

Do you think the sensor is faulty now, or what? I guess it can't be trusted any more.
