406 'After Market' Exhaust

I've just had a 'After Market' full exhaust system fitted to my 406 (diesel). With the new exhaust at certain revs when pulling the car vibrates /rattles and it feel more like a transit van than an exec car.

Personally I think this is duff exhaust and I'm asking the garage to fit a replacement ASAP. Is this a problem with non pug exhausts? I've never had a problem with 'After Market' parts in the past. Garage also said that it has seen this problem with later vauxhalls and a 306.

a lot of after market ones are pretty crap the unipart range used to be excellent but dont think they exist any more may be worth pricing a performance option against genuine price

My bro used to have a J reg 106 and had to have his exhaust fitted twice because of rattling; the mechanic said he often had problems with after market peugeot exhausts rattling.

I?d try and get a Pug exhaust from a independant specialist, if you hadn?t already bought one. You should, apparently, be able to get this one to stop rattling with some fiddling.

in general aftermarket exhaust systems SUCK! especially those frome kwikfit, halfords, feu vert ect which al come frome the same crapyard

also! a pug exhaust ( @ least here in holland) is cheaper!

FI

recently i had to change the mid section on my 406

kwikfit 197 euro's retro part ( the one that sucks and has rockwool in it) Pug dealer incl fitting 118 euro's original pug part

same with changing oil

kwikfit

89 euro including some vague brand full synthetic oil

pugdealer

98 euro ( cheaper if you bring your own lube ) including full sunth lube ( 4.5 liters ) premium brand like total, mobile, shell helix ultra if given advanced notice

tyres

Michelin primacy 195/65/15 H ( 210km/h classification)

Kwikfit 105 euros excluding fitting, valve, balancing ( + 16 euro's each )

primacy 195/65/15 V ( 240 km/h classification) @ my local tyre shop

117 euro including fitting, valve, rimms cleaned, balanced, and rebalanced on the car itself, better ( turkish) coffee and i can come back the tyre lifespan to have it balanced again

good havens KF goes in to glass repair as wel

so DO NOT i repeat DO NOT go kwikfit et al just dref on them and let them f*ck off

I've bought the exhaust sytstem from a local independent garage and I'm going to ask them to try and re-fit the same system as I think it's due to a faulty cat. It's not really a rattling or knocking but the exhaust creates a vibrartion which creates noises in the dashboard ect and can be felt between certain revs.

Garage has also tried to stop the vibration with a bit of fiddling and re-aligning the exhaust but no joy. For the money a performance exhaust might not be a bad option. As the genuine part is nearly twice the price of the after market.
