406 Injection pump

I had a faulty injection pump on my 406 1.9TD and so brought a second hand injection pump and swapped them over. The car will not start at all now. Fuel is getting into the pump but nothing is coming out of the injection side.

Has anyone changed a pump over and had similar problems? Or does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance Barry

Just to add more info...

When I crack the unions off at the injectors only a very small amount of fuel comes out when turning the engine over and a lot of it seems to be air. The fuel filter is completely full and I have bled the pump on the inlet and return pipe unions. I cannot however find a bleed screw on the injection pump. Is there a vital bleed screw somewhere on the Bosch I am missing? The fuel shut off solenoid has power and seems to click when ignition goes to position 2. Any other tips on how I might sort this out? Many thanks, Bazza

Sorry for delay.

Swapped the pump over and the the EMU would not talk to the pump. The pump has a chip in it that "codes" with the EMU. Swapped these over and it works!

Why oh why do they have to complicate things? What happened to the days where you could swap bits over eh?!?

Thanks for all you help anyway.
