406 Rapier Estate ( June 2001) 2 litre Hdi diesel @ 80,000 miles.

Can someone advise what drive belt(s) are fitted on above, what they drive and when they are scheduled for replacement. Cost of changing would also be of help.

Many thanks,

Wally.

Hi,

If not already done in the past, the cambelt (given for 80,000 or 5 years, not sure about the mileage). Heavily recommended : the water pump (the old may not last with a new belt, due to its tension) and the aux belt (for a couple of pounds, it's an investment).

Regards,

Good point re water pump, it had not occured to me and as access looks awkward, might as well do it when in that area. Having both belts done by local garage which I trust for £300.00. Many thanks for your thoughts. Happy Motoring

Seems a reasonable price. I had my petrol 406 cambelt done when I bought the car because there was no record of it having been done. IIRC it cost me £140 or so but you're getting extra done. I remember when I had a Xantia asking the local Cit. dealers how much a cam belt change would be. Very little change from £450 was the answer, local specialist did it for £120.
