Boxer van keycode problem

Hi ppl

I have a big problem, the van is on an x reg and has been great till now.. It will turn over as normal but wont fire up but sometimes it does and it will drive ok then suddenly it comes up on the dash 'keycode' I had a guy look at it and he said there is supposed to be a scart socket that can have some kind of device plugged into it and sort it out but he cant find this socket. Any help on this would be very much appreciated TIA

Hi,

If your Boxer dosn't have a keypad AND you have the same problem when using the spare key then the problem could the transducer mounted behind the ignition switch. But try your spare key first.

Thanx very for your reply... Yes the spare key has been tried and it is same problem.. This transducer... What exactly is it? and when you say ignition switch do you mean the key barrel? and how do you get to it also? Thanx again for the reply

Hi, It is attached to the key barrel. On a 406 it is black in colour and approx 1 cm square and should be very close to the key end of the barrel. You will need a longish Torx driver to remove the bottom cover below the barrel. I have had a very similar problem on a 406 and it was a bad connection on the transducer wiring. The transducer transmits the information from your key to the engine ECU which allows it to start. On most occasions of non starting, pushing the key hard into the barrel got the engine started. I hope this helps ... gud luck.

Ok, the outcome is.... Toomys main agent want very nearly £1000 to fix it... Can you beleive it?! and they say it will need new ECU new trans-thingy new key and code new fuel pump or sender (1 of the 2) I cant remember everything tbh, I was so damn shocked at the cost i nearly peed my pants I wont be going ahead with that obviously, as the vans not worth spending that amount on so i dont know what im gonna do right now, anyone want to buy the van? =/

hi, i have the same problem, boxer van, y reg, starts ok, but after driving for 1/2 hour, then stopping, van will not start, key code on dash stays alight. was told that it is the transponder in the steering column that does not recognise the key. so had a new transponder fitted by main peugeot dealer, but now have exactly the same problem. peugeot says give us the van & we will put it on diognastic machines £85.00 per hour then we give you an estimate after that. any idears?

hi, i had the van into peugeot main dealer, they said they spent 2 1/2 hrs on it& found that the transponder recognizes the key it then sends a message to the diesel pump injectors to start pumping the fuel, the reciever in the injectors is faulty and the transponder is faulty. they will have to remove the pump, send it off to a specialist who will strip it down & renew the reciever & renew the transponder, (evidently i only had the transponder ariel renewed!!!! ) they can do all this for £575.00. I do not believe all this, I spoke to my mechanic & he said that if that is the problem he can remove the pump bypass the reciever & refix the pum

If you are near Wimbledon pop into Watson Diesel they might be able to do it while u wait, and it might not have to be removed off the van.
