Wiper blade lifespan?

Would anyone like to guess at the lifespan of an average car wiper blade in mileage and also months/years?

I'd have to say any distance from 0 to 'X' thousand miles as it would depend on time of use and screen conditions?

In my experience blades only stay 'perfect' for a couple of months, if I'm lucky. They are passable for a several months more so I tend to change them yearly in time for winter weather.

I tend to get a couple of years out of mine. I buy just the universal rubber refills which are dirt cheap and dead easy to fit. just checked on line and they are £2.08 inc vat for a pair from CPC. They do have a minimum order for free carriage which I think is £35 vat ex but as they sell so much useful stuff that I can get an order up to that value no problem.

Thanks for replies. I made a pigs ear of it and went into a DIY car shop and paid £20 for complete (3X) wipers. Got home and they didn't fit. Took it back let the guy fit others and when I looked they are odd ones due to me asking for one with the 'shovel' on. Ended up paying £26. Oh well. I'll change them again next year and go to Peugeot for them.

Mine seem to last at least a year. I went to Motaquip who conveniently have a branch just up the road from me. IIRC both front wipers and a headlamp bulb (or was it a tail light? It was a year ago) was about £12. I'm not sold on their brake pads though, one I fitted had the lining coming away from the backing plate.

I used mine for 4 years on my Partner. (but I never let them run dry...)

Over more than 50 years of more cars than i can readily enumerate, I rarely replaced wipers. As i usually keep cars for ten years or so, this means that wipers are, generally, durable. The only car which, to date, has caused me wiper-problems was my 406. There has been much discussion in this group of the tendency of wipers on 406s to make an incredible amount of noise (and the fix was to twist the wiper carrier so as to correct the angle of attack which was what caused the noise). Also the blades were Hell to replace. I recall you first had to chop off about 3cm of the replacements - I forget why. I fell into the habit, whenever the existing blades were visibly not performing, of having them replaced at the next service. So I would have replace more wiper blades on my 406 than all my other past and present vehicles put together (but, as I drive my 407, with its thousands of buttons and its computer, and its incredible full-screen, silent wipers, I miss my 406 - nothing is perfect).

The passenger side wiper on my partner van lasts about half the time that the drivers side one does !!! No idea why .

As an exception I will top post, cause I can't get WM to make quote marks in your message.

Few weeks ago my Partner failed to pass mandatory yearly safety test (MOT I believe you call it). It is 5 years now, but the responsable mechanic said the (still original) wipers were making striped marks. Of course they will always find an excuse to swindle customers, if they can't find any other defects. Althoug they did make a noise over the screen, for visibility they still worked fine even in heavy rain. But for the car to pass the test I HAD to have them replaced. I think MOT is just invented to boost business! After buying a new car I always keep it as long as possible, until repair expenses become too high. I love the Partner / Berlingo (whichever dealer has best deal) and my next car will be another one (although it is new type now)

Seems strange indeed, I suppose it wipes just as many times as the other one...? :-)

While typing this, I remember seeing my rear wipers moving unevenly sometimes...

I hope so :-) I can only imagine that it's down to the pressure the arm exerts on the blade being higher on the passenger side.
