2008 Vibe Passenger airbag warning - how to fix the sound? (2023 Update)

Bought this 2008 Vibe yesterday, and and folded down the back seats and passenger seat to carry some lumber, shelving, etc. The passenger airbag/seatbelt(?) warning sounds for quite a while and is very annoying. Any way to kill the sound?

If you are getting an airbag warning sound after folding down the back seat and passenger seat in your 2008 Pontiac Vibe, it may be because the weight sensor in the passenger seat is not properly calibrated. The sensor is designed to detect whether a passenger is sitting in the seat and to turn off the airbag if the seat is empty or if a child is sitting there.

Here are a few things you can try to resolve the problem:

  1. Put the seat back in the upright position and make sure it is securely latched.
  2. Turn off the ignition and wait a few minutes, then turn the ignition back on. This may reset the sensor and stop the warning sound.
  3. Check the owner's manual for instructions on how to calibrate the sensor. Some vehicles require the use of a special tool or a specific procedure to calibrate the sensor.
  4. If the problem persists, it's best to take the car to a professional mechanic, as the issue might be with the sensor, seat belt or with the airbag control module.

It's important to note that disabling or disconnecting the airbag system is not recommended as it is a critical safety feature, so it's best to get it fixed by a professional
