Damage by mis-connecting spark plug wires?

Is it possible to damage a car by hooking up the wrong wires to the wrong spark plugs? I did that and attempted to start my car and it didn't of course. I'm just wondering if there was any damage caused. I tried starting multiple times... ...like 3 or 4.

Thanks,

It is theoretically possible but not very likely. Just put the wires where they are supposed to go and start it.

Thanks, now I just need to find the correct order, I didn't pay attention when taking them off, the front was 135 so I just assumed the back would be 246 but that must not be the case because I couldn't start the car.(starter turned but engine never fired.) If someone can answer this post it would be great.

Go to the Library and get a Chiltons or Haynes manual out and Xerox copy the picture of the distributor cap and wiring diagram. I assume that you did not move the distributor but just took the cap and wires off.

What I do if I am stuck like that is look at the picture. Figure out which is number one on the cap and go from there. It is a simple process.

Try starting the firing order from the right side of the coil pack. I had to do that on my Montana with the 3400.
