extended warranty on 2000 Sunfire?

Hello all. I need some advice.

I purchased my first car, a 2000 Sunfire. The car only has 44000 KM's ( 27

500 miles) on it and it's in awesome shape (no rust/scraches/chips, and the engine is running well). The dealer put new tires and breaks on it, plus safetied it. It was also inspected by an independant mechanic and it was given a clean bill of health.

However, it's is no longer under any kind of warranty.

I can purchase from GMCanada a 3 year - 60 000 KM (37500 miles) warranty for $1660 CAD ($1100 US).

I'm not sure what to do because the car is in awesome shape and have VERY low mileage for a 3 year old car. On the other hand, it IS 3 years old and the winters up here in Canada are rough on a car.

So what I am asking is, should I purchase the extended warranty?

Thanks for the advice and answers

Vincent

Frankly three years old is nothing, thirteen is a bigger deal and twenty three is a worry...

But after reading all the complaints on this group... hmmmm... If everything appears fine now it may stay that way for three years or

60,000KMs - it also may not. I suspect it will be fine and say don't worry about it, but if you're paranoid get the insurance.

Just for your info: I bought my now 19 year old daughter a 1999 sunfire new in the fall of 1999. It now has about 60,000 miles. She is a very typical teenage driver, I have to reminder her to get it serviced, sometimes it has gone 7,000 between oil changes. She keeps it fairly clean, but is not fanatical. Of course, she is always hauling around all her buddies going to concerts and the like.

Other than scheduled maintance, she has done the brakes at around 35k. She had the front speakers replaced under warranty. NO other money has been spent on the car. ( However, the passenger window came offthe track last week and is awaiting repair). It has been a great car for her.
