Hacking an OEM CD changer revisitied

Well, the car went to the dealer and the CD changer was replaced. I jotted down the serial numbers and in addition drew a small but permanent line inside the changer with a Sharpie. So, I am sure the changer was replaced. Unfortunately, I am still having a skipping problem with the changer. I am at my rope's end as how are they going to fix this now? I was overjoyed as I saw on the workorder something about a short in the changer's harness. But this one suffers from none of that. On one particular CD, the changer skips without the vehicle being in motion. I wiped the disk off and the same thing, track 3 & 1:18 seconds into it. But in the head unit, the CD plays fine. There is a tiny mark on the CD but I can't believe this changer is that sensitive. This is a real drag as I can imagine what is going to happen next. Pontiac is supposed to call me Monday with a follow up as to the repair. I'm getting really tired of running back and forth to the dealer with this persistent problem. And for the cost of an audio input jack on the radio, this could all have been avoided. Ed
