My hyd pump for the tranny is making noise on my 94 gran prix. I can put up with the noise for the time being but was wondering what the tranny would be like, if the pressure went low. Would it actup or slip or fail to shift? is this something I should repair right away or do I have time to wait.? Just wondering what to do.
All of the above. Without sufficient pressure, the servos that hold the plates together won't work very well. And the servos/accumulators that do the shifting AND holding it in gear won't work very well. It should be similar to driving without trans fluid. Whether to wait or not is up to you. As long as the case and shafts do not get destroyed it will be ok to drive.
