I can't stop my alarm from....

I can't stop my alarm from going off on my 1997 Pontiac Grand AM (5 speed),

2 door. I have ( I am pretty sure), a factory installed alarm on this car. I disconnected the battery to bypass the alarm system but now it won't stop going off when I reconnect the battery. I have already turned the key to the run position and then tried to reconnect the batter, but it is still going off. Can anyone help me please. Thank you

this happened to me befire a couple of times and here was the remedy that worked for me. lock all the doors on you car then enter the car physically using your key this should take care of that. this happened to me at a crowded mall (embarassing as hell as you can imagine) and i had to call the dealer on my cell phone and he instructed me to do the above. this is an intermittent problem that i have had for over 4 years now but at least i know how to fix it. hope this helps fix your problem.

Foggy, this is for you....I have done everything there is under the sun to stop the alarm from going off. I have locked, unlocked and relocked and still nothing. I can't even reconnect the battery because it sounds the alarm. I do not have a remote control key alarm. All's I have is the regular key to lock, unlock and start the car. So, what other information do you have for me? I know you have some becausse you sound like you know what you are doing....*S*..Thank you sweetie in advance Melissa

is it a siren or your horn? if its a siren, track teh wires back to the module its coming from and take it out, if its a horn, admit defeat and ahve it looked at by a professional, seems like you've tried most everything

I forgot to mention. This is to M.C. Tee, I did trace the wires to the inside of the car to the or near the fuses panel, I found a black and red (which led from the siren under the hood), wire. The wire led me to the main wires to the whole electrical system, but I wasn't sure which or where to disconnect the wire, I don't want to cause a fire. Could you tell me how to take the wires apart without causing any trouble for the rest of the car? And, when I do take it apart, can I leave it apart? Thank you Melissa

gosh almighty

did you try what i told you? lock all your doors then re -enter car with your key not your remote. then put key in the ignition and try to start.....then the alarm should stop. it sounds stupid but it worked for me.
