Doug,

From what I've learned here junk yards have some of the best cross reference lists to go by. They deal with this type of thing everyday.

Also another little tidbit I've learned on Usenet. Being a smart ass doesn't move you up to the front of the line, it moves you to the back of the line.

Anything is possible. I'd be looking for the correct engine if it were me. I'm thinking that you'll need all of the wiring harness' ,computer, etc, from the 86' before you even start to think about a swap. The first page I looked at showed 3 different 1.6, 1.8, 2.0L engines all seeming to be of the same (3) family of engines. You'll need someone with a parts interchange manual, generally found in you larger junk yards.
