Oil pressure and thermostat question..

Oil pressure on 95 Bonny SSE starts out at around 60 when I first drive the car but after driving for a while when I stop at a light it seems to hover around 10-20 according to the gauge. Also I notice that the engine runs hot at around 240 a lot of the time. Any advice on how to fix these problems would be greatly appreciated since I am planning to drive to Busch Gardens from NY in the near future. TIA

You should install a rig (external test gage) to check that oil pressure, the idle pressure should be a bit higher. The engine temp appears to be too hot. That engine should run at around 200 degrees f. when up to normal operating temperature. It may require a new t-stat, and a real good coolant flush.

Just as a suggestion, in case you haven't checked. Look for small leaks, and check the level. Inspect the cap really well to see if it's holding pressure. You would be very surprised to see how a faulty cap would effect the temp. Trouble shoot from those to more complicated things.
