Pontiac Got it Backwards...again

Pontiac seems to have gotten there new cars names mixed up. The new G6 is supposed to be a sport sedan though far from it. The Solstice is a Sportscar with a sedan like name. I wouldnt be surprised if someone at Pontiac was half asleep when they titled these cars. I bet the Solstice was really for the G6 and the G6 was really the Solstice, but no one actually caught the error until the badges were already placed on the cars.

How could a G6 badge be put on a car 4 months ago that isn't even out yet?

Some Caddies do have names. CTS = Catera Touring Sedan, STS = Seville Touring Sedan, DTS = DeVille Touring Sedan, XLR & SRX beat me...I think they just gave up and wanted to use more Xs and Rs.

That clears it up a little. Still names role off the tongue better most=20 of the time.=20

XLR Extra Luxury Roadster? :) I think I found the meaning to SRX at this link

formatting link
"Dubbed SRX, the first initial in the name stands for the series, the R=20in the middle signifies a re-configurable nature of the wagon and the X=20at the end denotes the car-based platform of a crossover vehicle" Yeah doesnt make much since to me. "X car-base platform"? I thought they=20 were a Y platform... Oh well.

When someone ask me what SSE stands for on a Bonneville I tell them=20 "Super Snappy Edition". :D=20

You could be onto something there with the XLR.

The SRX, figuring it out is much more like a deciphering game then anything else. I'm fine with letters and numbers if they're pretty easy to figure out, but not if it takes a paragraph to figure out what the car is or does.

lol at the SSE. I've never actually thought about trying to figure out what the trim levels stand for. LS, LT, LTZ, GXP, SLE, SE, SSE, SSEi, STS, SLT, DTS, DHS and however many more GM has or had.
