You got over 200,000 miles on a Bonneville? Wow. My Husband had 175,000 on his Pontiac Grand Prix before he sold it.

We love old cars.

Ever have a dream car?

we had one and I wish to this day my mom hadn't ever sold it

1972 Capri

Not the POS Australian version, but what was essentially a German Ford Escort coupe with a nice 2L motor. Sucker would scream down the straightaways and twist thru the curves better than any car I've driven - including my buddy's Porsche 912...

Look at the generic background of the site and pictures of the cars that were found on the net. I am sure these people have something similar on a chevy discussion board mopar etc. Its a SCAM!!!!

Heh.. Something about comparing Escorts to Porches that tickles my American ribs.

I just can't picture it.

I can, and I've driven both.

Boy they sure must have changed quite a bit on the Escort while it was being made for the USA. The Escorts of America are peppy for small cars, but they are not in the remotest sense sporty (from the factory). I've owned 4 of them. I love 'em, but don't think I'd put them up against a Porche.

remember now I was speaking of a 1972 Mercury Capri - a rebadged German escort, not the normal POS british crap or the later Oz shit. This car had a 2 liter inline 4 banger and would top out at about 125 mph, and stuck like glue in corner.

As far as top end, sure it wouldn't beat my buddy's 912, but then again when I was riding my 600 enduro I could waste any porsche on the road in acceration if not cornering. Lotsa sheepish grins on those Porsche owners who tought they could out run a 600 cc bike, LOL...
