Strange non-start problem

Howdy, We have a '02 Grand Prix GT and have had a strange non-starting problem. Sometimes when we have put gas into it the car will turn over but refuse to start. Normally after a few minutes it will finally fire. Keep in mind this issue only occurs right after gas has put in at the gas station. The dealer hasn't been able to find a cause. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Sounds like an "anti-theft" feature. It could have something to do with the security chip in the key, or the gas cap not being closed tightly enough etc.

My husbands '97 Malibu will occassionally "think" someone is trying to steal it. It will turn over, but the gas flow is cut off by the anti-theft, and shuts the car off. I think the cure for his car is to insert the key, turn it to the spot just before the ignition (ACC or similar), and let it set for

15-20 minutes. After that it starts right up. He found out the fix by calling the GM 800 number on the window sticker.

Have you tried a Google search?

Did you just put a few gallons, or fill it super-full every time?

Also, this may just be coincidence until "few times" turns into "every time". GW

I bet it's a problem with A.) The vapor cannister. B.) The fuel-return line or the check valve in (or near) the fuel pressure regulator.
