Who makes GM's Brake Pads???

Does anyone know who makes GM's Brake pads on the newer grand prixs and Monte Carlos. I purchased one a set and they were noisy as hell. Returned those and got the new ceramic ones . They are quiet . But they suck. You cant stop. They are to dame soft.

Steve, GM Brake Pads are made by AC Delco. Their website is at:

. I noticed that they only show one pad for GrandPrix's though.

Did you have semi-metalic on there? Also did they have the squeal dampening pad on the back?

Doesn't Porsche and most race teams use ceramic because they stop better and have less heat fade ?

Some degree of heat is needed to increase braking. Even more so with ceramic pads. Ceramic pads are great for race cars because race cars generate heat faster and greater than our daily drivers. Our cars cant take avantage of ceramic pads because we seldom generate enough heat for them to work.

Next question... Steve did you have your rotors turned before installing the new pads? If your rotors were glazed over that could be a problem.

heat is ok, its from the friction, ya know from stopping? its energy dissipation....

I know heat is a byproduct of friction, I'm saying "Ceramic pads" wont=20 start gripping well until they get heated up. They only work well in the=20 upper ranges needed for race cars.
