First little glitch

...and I hope it was only that. Car started up even more quietly yesterday, and we then realized we were suffocating. The AC hadn't come on. And it had reset itself to 76F. Tell me that is an anomaly. Please?

Jean,

I don't spend much time at the Climate screen but the only glitch I've noticed is the serious one that occurs when the dew point and relative humidity are very close. Do you mean that you had it set at one temperature and it jumped to another? If so, that might explain the sudden fogging I've experienced a few times.

My issue is impossible to demonstrate to the dealer because it will only occur a few days a year in MN, and then for just a few hours on those days. Essentially what happens is this:

Suddenly and for no apparent reason warm, moist air is diverted from the console and/or floor diffusers to the cool windshield where it condenses in a split second. Yes, I can press the windshield defogger button on the steering wheel but the time required to clear that condensation is significant at highway speeds; several minutes at least. The best I can do is slow down, keep the car pointed straight ahead, and clear a peep hole with my hand.

That's a problem! I hope you can get it straightened out.

Yes, my AC, which was on and set at low, turned off and then was set at 76 when we noticed and turned it back on.

Today, another little glitch--the car didn't open until I took the key out and clicked it open.

I don't care too much about these things unless they are indicative of something. A fogged-up windshield would be a lot more serious!

This has happened to me. I believe it happens if you lock the door using the switch on the inside instead of the button on the outside but I'm not sure.

All these things to figure out! Mine are just little points of interest though....

On this one, I'm thinking "feature" because if you were sitting in the car with your fob in your purse, the doors would unlock at the touch of a hand, anyone's hand, hence the need to use a key when the door is locked from the inside. OK, I'm just guessing here. :-)

Any metallic objects (keys, coins, cell phone, et cetera) near the fob inside a purse or pocket can interfere with its operation.

I don't remember whether I had locked the car from the inside. It happened again tonight. Later, I made point of not using the button on the inside, so I'll see....

BTW, my windows got really fogged up tonight. It is quite humid out, and most of the fogging was on the outside. The windshield wiper did not cope with this well.... :-(

OKAY! It is in with my money! I will have to put it somewhere else, although I don't know where, since my other pocket contains keys. I'll play with this idea.

Jean, I'm sort of glad you mentioned the "No start of the AC." Mine did the same thing yesterday when I got ready to leave. Maybe we both hit the AC or Auto button on the steering wheel?

Dunno, but it was weird though as I had to go back into the Climate Display and re-hit Auto to get it to work again. Today it behaved as it should.

Maybe a "real" glitch? I'll bring it up at the 5K service.

I tested my theory about locking the door from the inside and, much as I hate to admit it, I was wrong about that. I'm not sure about the fob interference either since I recall holding the fob to the window before giving up and using the key.

I am wondering the same thing: could I have hit the setting on the wheel as I exited the car? I don't think so, but it is possible. I guess I'll start keeping a little list....

Well, that's sort-of too bad. I'd like to have some logical answer. I guess, as I said, I will start a list. These are either problems with the car or problems with ME.

I was thinking that morning that both times, I tried to open the door from the passenger side. I THINK the first time, I then walked over to the driver's door and tried again, before I got out the fob and clicked it open.

I have manually locked the car from the inside a couple of times, so that theory sounded plausible. Oh well.

We've noticed that its close proximity to our BT enabled cellphones in the same pocket can cause the car not to 'see' the fob.

Now THAT'S another possibility, since I may very well have had my cell phone clipped onto the pocket the fob was in. It didn't happen today, so that is good. I'll try to pay attention to all the variables if it happens again.

I will say that what I have dubbed "mindful driving" seems to work best with this car. If I don't pay attention, my mileage is not as good....
