'98 420 SLDT wiper problem

The flick wipe & fast speed wipe have stopped working on my car. Low speed, intermittent & wash/wipe are all OK.

Looking at the wiring diagram (Haynes) and having tested voltages, earths etc at the switch, it would appear that the switch itself is faulty, but I've taken it apart & cleaned all the contacts etc. There are no signs of wear or damage and all contacts test OK with a meter.

Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone ever had a multifunction unit cause problems? Or might it be the wiper motor itself - by making contacts across the multiplug on the wiper switch I can still only get one (low) speed from the wipers.

Any ideas please....

Won't be the motor and if you've check the switch contacts then that only really leaves the MFU or wiring...

its cause is a broken contact in the gearbox on wipers had it on all of my

200s if you take motor off and drill out the rivets on the gear section then just bend the contacts on to the brass cog reasemble using self tapping screws and it will work like new

You're not wrong there! I discovered that gently pulling the black wire that goes into the wiper motor enables the high speed to work. So I've pulled it a couple of millimetres and held it in place with a tiewrap and it works fine. If and when it packs up again, I'll know exactly where to look.

Many thanks for your help on this!
