on all rover cars black is ground ,and ground is common any chassie point to any chassie point
slight colour variations occuar where say honda or ford ,bmw, peugoet, etc provide complete engines with wireing harness attached , that harness will be in the colour code of that manufacture but where it plugs into a rover plug on the body , and then the rover colour code will apply.
