I have a Rover 216 Coupe with a K-16 Engine. NIGHTMARE!! The problem started with water loss from the expansion tank/excessive steam/smoke from the exhaust and the temp guage rising and dropping at approx 5 Min intervals whilst driving 70mph. I have just had the head skimmed and replaced head gasket etc. I fired her up for the first time after completing the work, ran the engine gently between 1-2k Revs for 10mins and most of the water had escaped from the expansion tank. No obvious signs of any leaks but there still appears to be evidence of steam from the exhaust. Can anyone advise me of some options of where the water could possibly be escaping.
