2003 9-5 Aero - High pitch "whine" from somewhere inside?

Hi everyone,

My 9-5 has started producing some kind of intermittent high pitch whine (without any cheese :) which is audible from inside the car.

The weather here has been pretty cold these last few days, so at first I thought perhaps it was a semi-frozen belt of some kind, but the sound appears even after the engine has warmed up thoroughly.

I then thought it might have something to do with the power steering, as it seemed the sound was produced when I turned the wheel, but that theory, too, was proven wrong yesterday as the pitch was back as I was driving straight ahead. The sound will also make itself known even if the car is standing still with the engine runnning, fan off, radio off.

Any thoughts?

Kind regards,

E

I also get an intermittent whine in my C900T. It comes from the passenger when I go through the turns on the back country roads :-)

I have noticed a similar sound, it is coming from the blower when it is set to the upper vents (not set at floor). It does it when the blower motor is on high, if I readjust the blower to floors the sound goes away.
