2003 Saab 93 problems

Another person that I know and I have a lot of problems with our own

2003 93. I have been back to the dealership for about 10 times for various problems since I purchased the vehicle about 11 months ago. Do you have a lot of problems with your 93 or we just have bad luck with ours? Any experience sharing will be greatly appreciated.

In the first production series of 93 SS there is alot of trouble. After that they have been quite decently working.

- radio doesn't work fine, sometimes it turns off and on saab will change it next time in my 2003 ss arc.

- car won't open or close sometimes with the remote firmware-update will do it, says the dlr. we'll see.

- left rear door was stuck a few weeks ago. had to repair it, they said, it was sort of an electronical problem.

anyway, we like the car very much!

cheers

Same thing has happened a couple times in my 2004 Aero. Two or three times, it turned on when I started the car but it was tuned to a different station from I when I lasted used the radio and no sound was coming out. Adjusting the volume or changing the station didn't do anything. Turning the radio off and on again fixed the problem every time. Once, it turned off by itself while the car was on. I was able to turn it right back on.

One time, I couldn't lock the car and then the next day I couldn't unlock the car. Both times, the problem went away after I put the remote into the ignition.

I called the dealer about these things, but they said they hadn't heard of similar problems. I couldn't reproduce the problems, so I didn't bother taking it in.

So there are some Saab's with the same problems. My dlr also said it's the first time he ever heard of errors like these.

I hope they will replace my radio soon. They tried it with about 3 or 4 software updates.

Cheers

Your Saturn/SAAB dealers will happily replace any parts and update the software to give you the SAAB experience you paid for. Rest Assured, you made a great choice getting the 2003 or newer SAAB 9-3. We love our 2003 Linear and will get another in 2007. Cheers, Raymond

Horse feathers (at least locally here in Halifax using the Forbes group of Companies)..

While the parts department is top notch - and the local man with the wrenches is first rate - I cannot think of a dealership chain in my area that have gone further out of my good books at the front desk... Ever...

They botched a simple transmission filter installation on a substantially larger front wheel GM machine we own, blithely handed us the $1,000 bill - later - explaining that it must have been broken before I dropped it off (despite them having moved it around the lot for a week waiting for parts).

As it finally turned out it the someone pinched and cut the oil ring for the filter as I suspected at the time. Thankfully - it eventually dropped into the oil pan and my indie shop was able to fish it all out this year.

I have a 1994 aero with an open recall on it and the local manager has thus far refused to address it, suggesting instead that I take it stateside for repairs (even though SAAB USA has kindly sent them the official recall, instructions for repair and part numbers)..

Nope - I love my parts counter - even consider the local sales specialist to be a pal - but the 'service' experience at the front desk has clearly been horrendous here across the both the GMC and SAAB lines.

Perhaps I should move..
