The turn signal/cruise control switch on our 93 Classic 900 Turbo ragtop (convertible/cabriolet) has the classic malfuntion where the right signal will not stay on. Local used supply is out of working ones so I took apart a non working one and was able to grind a depression in the appropriate place to make it work.
I plan to post a step - by - step recipe for repairing these things.
So how to get the old one out and new one in?
I took off the lower cover over the switches on the steering column.
I removed the two screws holding the assembly to which the turn signal and wiper switches mount. It will not come down far enough for me to get at the upper torx screw that holds the turn signal/cruise control switch to the assembly.
Do I really need to remove the kick panel? That requires (as I recall) removing a bolt under the ash tray and two bolts/screws accessed from the open hood/firewall side.
It seems to me this was a lot easier on our '85 and '86 900T (non-ragtop) models.
