99 Turbo vacuum hoses?

The 99 Turbo is ready to drive...as soon as I get the vacuum hoses in the right place. My manuals are all either too old, or too new, to show a '78 99 Turbo's vacuum routing.

Can anyone tell me:

  1. Where does the vacuum advance on the distributor go to?
  2. Where does the small diameter port on the breather on the valve cover go to?
  3. Where does the hose on the valve next to the ignition coil go to? This is the "you just stomped the turbo, I'm opening for a few seconds" valve.
  4. There's a fitting on the side of the intake manifold, a large hose goes to the brake servo. Where does the small fitting connect to?
  5. There's a brass fitting on _top_ of the intake manifold, right near the cold-start valve (downstream from the throttle). What goes there?

It works out that I've got 3 things that need vacuum, and only two places to get it from, no matter how I add things up. What am I overlooking, please, and what should go where? My pictures, of course, don't show everything I need (isn't that always the way)?

Thanks, Dave Hinz

Ah, what a fun job. Hope you bought 10 metres ... It get addictive :)

To the nipple directly on top of the throttle. It might be the inner side of the throttle body on the B type.

To anywhere after the throttle. On the H type (and beyond), they say that this pipe should not have a T junction in it. It should also have a one-way valve in it that should allow suction away from the crank case, but not boost towards it. On my 900 T8, this goes to a plastic connector on top of the intake manifold, held in with a "top hat" grommet. That said, I have seen this one blocked off one more than one 99T engine!!!

Buh! Dunno, sorry. This is the pressure regulator valve, right? A two port switch that takes from the intake manifold and then goes onto the dash gauge. If it's a one port valve, I think it's part of the fuel boosting system, but I wouldn't like to make a suggestion about where it goes. I'm not sure about this one.

Any of the unconnected vac hoses, I would think. On the H type, that connector also has two smaller ports that go to (a) the vac canister for the air vents and (b) across to the fuel thingy under the distributor. Maybe that's where your hose in 3. Goes albeit your distributor is in a different place to the later H type.

Water injection? It is possible that the advance capsule (1.) could be plumbed in there. Is it a place for something to screw in, or does it protrude? I think that would be best used for 4 and put the other vac pipes (except the distributor advance) down to the connector where the brake servo joins, using a T piece if necessary.

Essentially, if it's a vac pipe it needs to go after the throttle ... But you know that. The vac advance does need to go to the area directly on top of the throttle.

Hi Dave,

my 1980 99 is NOT a turbo, but I can open the bonnet and take some pictures for you ...

Richard.

OKOK!

I think I got what I need from Paul H., but I may take you up on that.

Thanks, Dave
