Alarm Battery Life

Hello to all My Saab dealer tells me that although my alarm battery is long-life and usually good for as long as ten years, that my battery could be low and that this will cause the alarm to activate. How is low alarm battery indicated.

My vehicle is a 9.5 Aero 2000 and was in service first in early 2000. This makes the battery something over two years.

All help is deeply appreciated especially regarding this battery and possible replacement since the battery is an integral part of the siren/battery assembly and for theft proofing reasons, not reasonable or replaceable by itself. The whole unit must be changed.

Thanks to all in advance.

you CAN rpelace the batteries, but it requires some bravery and some soldering skills. There is a web site somewhere that describes how to do it. I did mine about 6 months ago.

general replacement is take siren unit out, take it apart, unsolder batteries, pry them loose from the glue, glue new ones on, resolder, reassemble and then put it back in. Took me about an hour. The batteries were something like $10 plus shipping on the net.
