Clutch Slave Cylinder leaking?

Is there anywhere a clutch slave cylinder can leak from the inside, or elsewhere? I'm wondering, because I see a small puddle of brake fluid on the ground when i press my clutch right below where my slave cylinder is located. I'm just wondering where it might be able to leak from, as I can't see anything coming out of the bleeder area on the slave cylinder.

Thanks for the help!

Generally, yes, between the seals and the piston.

What type of Saab?

Great car, I had an '87, 380000+ km, until the body got too rusty.

The clutch slave seal can start to leak. Do you notice a soft clutch pedal, or low fluid level? Better replace the seal before it leaves you stranded without any clutch... It could be a relatively simple DIY job if you like doing that sort of thing.

Any particular year or model please? The answer, of course, is "yes", but the fix will depend on the details.

.. and while you're at it, do the master cylinder seals as well, else the sudden pressure restoration will usually nuke them over the following month or two. Cheers

So, he should do extra work now, because if he doesn't then he might have to do...extra work?

I'm not sure I follow your logic, or your theory. There isn't any "extra" pressure from fixing a leak, you're just restoring it to normal.

May not *be* logic, but it's happened to me three times over last twenty years out of only 4 slave cyl jobs. I'm guessing gradual pressure loss is kinder than sudden restoration. Maybe I just had bad luck? Cheers

I've read (in this group) that the reverse also happens, i.e. slave cyl failing shortly after replacing/rebuilding the master. Hasn't been the case for me (yet).

I had a master replacement. Looks like that's what's killing it to begin with.
