Gear knob removal

Does anyone know how to remove the gear knob from a Saab 9-3 2002??? There is some burst stitches in the leather of my wife?s 9-3 conv, and she wants me to replace the knob.........Thanks

In a 900NG you have to cut it in half (no joke), I would not be surprised= if=20 it's the same in a 9-3. The rubber knob of our '95 900SE (conv) came off and I've been looking to= =20 replace it with a leather one (+leather boot). The instructions that come= with=20 the leather one tell me to cut the old one off.

I found out the answer using my web cam with a bluetooth unit......there are 3 lock lugs that need to be pushed in and that releases the lift up reverse clips. The plastic housing of the knob is on a spline and just pulls(with some force) off.
