Help! Legroom problem with 9-3. Solutions????

I'm feeling depressed because I just bought a 9-3 1999 5 door. At the time I bought it I thought the legroom was OK, though only just with seat right down and right back. after driving it in traffic for an hour or so, my left leg aches. I have less than great circulation because I'm 59 and rather overweight, plus I have an old knee probelm from a ski twist which makes the knee area rather prone to aching. I think the problems I have are: a) With the seat right down there's more of a cliff on the front of it, which is pressing against my thighs and hindering circulation. b) I can't put my foot to the left of the clutch when not in use. c) I just can't stretch my leg all the way out - nearest I come to it is with my foot between the clutch and brake underneath. I'm pretty down about all this, so need to know:

- Is there any fix like putting the drivers seat further back on the

9-3 (How?????????)

- the dealer that sold me the 9-3 may trade it back for another Saab, in which case what Saab has better foot room, or what Saab allows you to put your foot to the left of the clutch to rest it?

I had a classic 900 which I traded in, and that was fine - never had any problems and driving was really comfortable. Can I expect this from any other models in the Saab line-up? If we're talking 9-5, it would be the 1999-2004 one. Can't afford the 2005 one!

Your help would be VERY welcome in this rather dark moment! Andy PS I'm only 6 ft (184) but seem to have long legs - I had the seat right back on the 900.

I'm 5'9" but I have a short torso and long legs. I have about a 32" inseam. I found the 9-3 to be to cramped for me. I have a 9-5 and it has plenty of leg room.

I used to have a Volvo V-70, but my knee would hit the steering wheel. (I like to keep my left leg straight up when driving). The 9-5 has much more front-to-rear and side-to-side legroom than the Volvo or the 9-3.

Hello Jonathan - thanks for the input. I loved my classic 900, but I've really started to hate the 9-3 - it's just cramped for the driver. My knees are right up under the steering wheel and I can't stretch out my left leg.My shoe won't go round the clutch pedal - have to lift my foot right up to put it back down on the floor. For an illustious marque like a Saab, I think this is taking the piss. Andy
