Leather seats

Hi there,

I posted a listing a couple of weeks ago about my drivers seat not tilting forward. A couple of responses later a nd a discussion with a local dealer points to the cable inside being twisted or loose? The dealer recommends stripping the seat down to untangle. Now they are leather seats and I cant honestly see where to begin. Can anyone help? The only point I can see where I can begin to dismantle it is at the lever mechanism theres a star headed screw that I could release but i am fearful that thats going to open up a can of worms.

I believe there is a zipper at the bottom of the seat back, just fold it forward and you should see it.

I could be wrong, Jeremy

It's a broken plastic, hollow pushrod. Happened to me once. 1/2 of the seat just wouldn't tilt, while the other 1/2 tilted normally.

I think the mechanism is accessible from underneath the seat. Certainly my indy didn't cut the leather. And I don't recall the Haynes manual advising this either.

I'm just wondering how the OP will tilt the seat forward to find the zipper, when the forward tilt is broken?

It doesn't matter because the whole mechanism is underneath the seat not in the seat back. The OP will need to slide the seat forward, unfasten the rear bolts, slide it back, unfasten the front bolts then lift the entire seat up and out or just tip it in place if you want to work on it inside the car.
