light issue

Hello all,

I have a 1999 Saab 9-5 se.

My driver side High beam light will not work. The passenger side is okay. I checked the fuse and all seems to be fine.

Any ideas?

There seems to be a bit of a common Saab (or should I say Hella) problem that causes these symptoms. Here's the last thread I'm aware of, relating to it.

Basically, the lamp failure warning system can sometimes come over all insecure and actually cause a lamp to fail just so it can warn you, thereby justifying it's own existence.

The good news is you probably only need a soldering iron to fix it.

hahahah..

I was waiting for someone to catch that i miss saying that i check the bulb

but yes i did check the bulb. ahahah It seems to have been the connection on the lamp contol module. I wiggled it around a bit and now the lites seem to be working.

tks for your insight thought.

Sounds very familiar. IME the light will stop working again soon, requiring another wiggle. The loose connection you've found is actually inside the control module. Pull out the module, lever the lid off and re-solder all the connections from the PCB to the base (one of them will be almost invisibly cracked). That'll fix it for real.
