Re: c900 rear shock bolts

So, I replaced the rear springs/shocks this weekend. The project was a success, though it was a tough job. Dave, thanks for urging me to get some Kroil- I used it liberally, and it was very effective.

Particularly tricky bits for me:

- lower shock bolt fused to the metal liner of the lower shock bushing

- getting rear spring links re-aligned with the axle for reassembly (anti-roll bar made this especially tricky)

It took me pretty much the whole weekend, but was well worth it- the ride is much improved, and no more bottoming out whenever I hit a large bump!

Outstanding issues:

- RH bump stop is mostly rusted off

- ABS light came on after a bit of driving. I figure I probably reinstalled one of the wheel speed sensors either too shallow or too deep.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice in this thread.

Yay. People don't believe how good it is until they try it. Did you find a local source? (You're in Wisconsin, jes?) My can is getting low...

I'm on the east coast. I ordered it direct from Kano

It took about a week to arrive. I only ordered two cans- now I'm wishing I had ordered more.

I wonder if Kroil is sold here in Australia? I had a look at Kano's order form and I could order a 55 gallon drum of Kroil if I wanted to. 8-) Don't think I'd want to try to ship that - I'd have the anti-terrorist squad(tm) banging at my door. lol

Craig.

Haha, no doubt you would. I'm sure it's highly toxic. I'm amused by the fact that on one side of the can it says "no harm to metal or skin," while on the other side it says "avoid contact with skin, may cause irritation, etc"
