RFC Saab Service Manuals

I was browsing the EEuroparts.com website and noticed that they had a collection of service manuals for my 1991 9000T

Has anyone seen these manuals and able to comment on their value? Walt Kienzle

These are shop manuals you nromally get from dealers. I have a few different sections. It is cost prohibitive to own a set unless you have your own shop.

No they are not! I used to buy one section at a time when I needed to do a job on my 1987 9000. Some sections cover all 9000s, eg Brakes

364521 1985-1996, while other only cover a year or two, eg Electrical Systems 337048 is only 1987-1988. So I can still use them with my 1996 Aero. Much better than Haynes, although I still refer to that at times. We only have 3 Saab dealers in New Zealand, so we have to be self-sufficient . If I take my car into a local non-Saab garage, at least I can give him the service manuals to work from.

Yes they are!

You can get shop manuals, parts from the dealership. Or you can get them from Eeuroparts. I have talked to them over the phone many times.

Tell me who make SAAB shop manuals other than SAAB?

Although there are one or two Saab dealerships within a half-hour drive, I would prefer not to pay their US$100/hour rate, not to mention their triple cost parts prices. Are you saying that the typical US dealership would have these manuals on hand and charge a lower price than eeuorparts or are you saying the manuals aren't worth buying at all? I might be missing your point somewhat. Please clarify. Thank you.

I don't know what your dealership charges for shop manuals. I found there is no significant mark up on shop manuals by the dealership, unlike parts and services. At least that is the experience I have with my local dealership, Princeton sprorts and specialist cars. (I heard they have switched to Subaru but not sure.) I bought my 9000 gear box shop manual for like $22 and change a few years ago. But the dealership usually doesn't stock the manual. You pay (phone oreder with credit card) and pick up a few weeks later. I think Eeuro has an advantage there.

It is easy enough to call them up and compare prices.

Thank you for the clarification. I mistakenly thought your original answer indicated that the manuals were worthless.

I didn't actually ask if I should buy them from eeuroparts ;-). They just had what seemed to be a comprehensive list with part numbers. I didn't even realize that wide a selection was still available for a 15 year old model.

The "no", referred to the prohibitve cost . Sorry if you were bemused.

I take you have a deeper pocket than I do?

Try eBay, I got the complete shop manual for the 900 for about $150 for the whole set of all manuals and supplements for every year from 85-93.
