Saab 93 - iPod connection

Can anyone help?

I purchased a Saab 93 convertible earlier this year. The Saab dealer in HK seems to have crap after sales support.

All I ned to know is - What does the port to connect the iPod to the car look like and where is it? I was told it might be in the Arm Rest storage. In here I have found a round metal looking port (but looks like it was a cigerette lighter)

Any ideas?

Many Thanks

Michael

Michael,

I did this with my MP3 player

You need to also have a power source that plugs into that lighter connection for your IPOD as well so it gets power as well as in put.

Enjoy!

That part is only $35

I do not think my Saab (9-3 convertible 2004-2005) has anything in the small rectangular port). I will check later, but I am sure its just a small hole covered.

Thanks

Michael,

IT SHOULD NOT have ANYTHING in that SMALL SQUARE piece of plastic underneath the armrest.

Neither did mine. I popped the square plastic out and popped in the 1/8" input in place of it.

Simple.

Ahh, so this is where the confusion is! I thought the Saabs come with this as standard (and you can use the steering wheel to select Next or Prev song on the iPod), but you are talking about gettnig a 3rd party kit to do this?

I dont mind not having the steering wheel to go through songs...as long as there is a decent connection. My iTrip (via the radio) is not all that qood quality.

Also how do you power yours. There is a round port (that might be to heat up a cigerette lighter) but not sure really as its just covered by a plastic cap. Does this have power?

Thanks Michael

Michael,

This is a SAAB part, NOT 3rd party at all. It's just not STANDARD. It's an accessory.

I power my MP3 player via batteries, and not via power unfortunately. But I believe with you IPOD, you can power through the cigarette lighter (via an adapter). Yes that has power.

Next to it with that square cover, is where the adapter fits nicely into. Again, this is NOT 3rd party, it is a SAAB part.

Check with your dealer.

I have a 93 sport sedan, 2006 model. It too has an aux walkman style jack at that location which is enabled by choosing AUX instead of CD from the console.

So with a regular audio cable, how is it possible to trigger PREV/NEXT on an IPOD? That would be cool...
