Yes, interesting ... What happened?

These were the SAAB 99 years, where the car did not feature a bonnet badge; nor did the early C900s ... Like this 'T reg' from 1979.

1984 marked the end of the earlier C900 models, like the EMS and GL variants (certainly in most markets, although Australia did continue this badging much later), and the SAAB 99 was put to rest, so SAAB may well have introduced the "new" phase of C900s with the SAAB/Scania (Griffin) bonnet badge in 1984.

Paul,

Thanks, I knew I wasn't the only one wondering "What happened" ? :)

What "logo" do you think I should use here? fro 1975 to 1984 (Just SAAB or = SAAB outlined)?

... Or didn't for those years :)

I always think the "Aeroplane" logo is very stylish ... Just re-vamped part of my website (check out the blue top):

My very early 1984 C900 T16S had the Saab Scania griffin Roundel. Do't know about matt/polished because it had bleached out many years before.

The blue plastic covered coloured part can simply detach, leaving a silver/polished effect. My first (also silver) C900 has this :)

Welcome back to SAABing, BTW!

Not to appear argumentative (though I have occasionally been accused of such previously) I don't think the blue (and red and silver) colored part is plastic. It seems to be some sort of thick paint or porcelean over the silver substrate that we all drive around with.

I only say this because I have caught a few in a state of semi-decay (before all of the colored part has completely abandoned ship) and it seems to have chipped/cracked and vacated.
