wanted: late model 9000

Longtime (10 years +) SAAB owner/bassist looking for a late model 9000 in the chicago area. I currently own a '99 9-3. Great car, but nowhere near the cargo space of my long gone 9000. As much as I hate to degrade (i.e. buy an older car than what I have), I'd love to find a great "new" 9000. Any leads would be appreciated. Please respond to group or email me directly @ snipped-for-privacy@comcast.net. Thanks to all, LK.

Sorry, I live in the Chicago area too and would probably keep such a rare find for myself as a replacement for my 1991 9000T.

You can check out the classifieds on Saabnet.com. I see lots of 9ks up there all the time.

You wouldn't be downgrading... I feel there's no comparison between my '95 9000 and my wife's Cavalier, I mean '99 9-3.

I lucked out with Autotrader.com. I found a 1998 CSE with the Aero engine (manual) with only 45,000 miles. Someone had traded it in on a Buick and the dealership was anxious to part with it. To fetch it I had to drive

200 miles but it was worth it. It now has about 98,000 miles and is the best car I have ever owned since my 1956 VW. I gave my 94 CSE to my son. It is a faithful workcar and now has over 220,000 miles on it. My only advice: keep a spare direct ignition cassette in the truck and replace the idler belt pulleys as soon as they make the slightest noise.

Good hunting. R. Frist

And you DO change the plugs every 20-25.000 miles? And you DO only use NGK R-plugs?

Cheers!

Yes, an DI are not that expensive after all and a simple DIY job to replace, even I can do it. Only problem is that they can leave you stranded. Look out for warning signs one or two weeks in advance. Make sure cooling system works efficiently.

I still pound my 1993 9000 CSE 70 miles daily, it has been amazingly reliable.
