2006 ION 3 - Comments, reviews?

Hi All,

I'm thinking of getting a 2006 ION 3 and was wonderring if anyone here has one and what do they think about it? I've googled for reviews but they all seem to be a rehash of the spec sheet and brochure.

Thanks,

PJ

Just drove a new Ion 3 06 home today. A little bit under-powered (improved over my 99 S-2 though), a bit stiff ride, side view mirrors are a bit under-sized, would be nicer if the little rectangular tray over the radio were deeper, also, haven't figured out how to cycle through FN 1 &2 I've done it just don't know how - doesn't seem to follow the manual directions as it just cycles through FM 1 & AM when the designated button is pushed. I have the preferred and travel packages with a sun roof.. I do like it so far, all of 20 miles worth.

Thanks. Did you get the leather interior?

Anyone else?

Do Ions come with anti lock brakes? Last time I looked at them on the lot, NONE had anti lock breaks. Sure it was an option, but the dealer did not have any with it. Instead the sales person tried to float me a story about since the car was balanced so well, it didn't need them.

Since when did balance allow me to steer around an obstacle when braking?

Anti lock brakes with traction control is an option on the Ion 2, 3 and standard if you get the performance package on either. Many of the Ions had the ABS, mine does not.

I have a 2006 Ion 3 w/ leather interior that I bought about 2 months ago. So far, I think it is great. I have had one problem, however. My airbag light for the past few weeks has been coming on at random times while driving, and it beeps and will not stop. I consulted the owner's manual, and it says that if that occurs, there is a problem w/ the airbag system and possibly, the airbags could deploy for no reason at all while driving and/or if you are in an accident, they may not deploy at all. I am getting it checked out soon. Other than that, it drives well, and no other major complaints.

had a loaner 06 Ion 2.4 for a few days, nice acceleration, quite smooth....more subject to buffeting by gusty winds at speed than my own 02 sl1- I was happy to get my old car back
