92 saturn sl car flooding out over gasing smoking ect .

i just bought a 92 saturn sl knowing it ran horseshit, the guy kept working on it pouring parts and money into it new parts used parts ect i don't know what he all did to it,i don't think he knows either then gave up .so i got it for $150.00,it sat for about 1-1/2 years before i got it, has a 1.9 sohc motor .starts super hard ,floods so bad fouls plugs, black sout on ground out of tail pipe steady black/blue smoke all over the huge area behind car ,never seen anything like it. , super strong gas smell ,not oil does not burn oil , gas in the oil from flooding, it would idle down before after starting now it got even worse, now it idles or reves at 3000 rpm.if you step on gas pedal it idles down to normal for about 2 seconds then screams up to 3000 to 3500 and stays there .i dont think the cool fan comes on either ,and there is a huge buldge in radiator hose when running ? iv'e tried a few things no luck yet.i did change the one temp sensor on driver side the one towards the front of car with a used one, did nothing . i have a 93 same car sitting right next to it that runs good, that i have been swaping sensors and parts off of so i don't have to buy till i find the problem.i have more time then money so it don't bother me to much yet but its getting there.i can't take it to saturn dealer at $110.00 an hour ,thats what they charge now, i can't beleive it . could it be the thermostate or one of the temp sensors ,it could be so many things ,i tried that code thing before on other saturns got several codes back then gave up took to dealer after know one could figure it out,the codes had absolutely nothing to do with the problem both times ,one time it was just plug wires ,the other time it was a intake gasket .

Check ALL the obvious and easy stuff first. There is nothing worse than a problem that many others have tried to fix as they could have made it worse and you could now be looking for multiple problems. Air filter? Compression? Fuel pressure too high? Blocked fuel return line to tank? Leaking fuel injectors? Remove and check and or replace coolant hose.

Keep at it, the price was right. Good luck, YMMV
