'97 SC2 horn issue.

Hello, Sorry if this has been hashed to death in earlier posts. I have searched the archives and still have questions. My horn is not working, BTW I hate the position of the horn buttons. Almost impossible to hit one of them when it is immediately needed. That aside. I removed the suspect horn. Checked the voltage at the connector and their is 12v when the horn button is pressed.

From reading past posts I understand that this horn has the relay integrated into it.

I went to Auto Zone and they sold me a horn that, they said would work with my car. When I got it home it only has 2 terminals to connect to = no relay on the horn.

I have searched the net for a replacement horn that has a relay integrated into the horn but have yet to find one.

Any info and or links to a site that has one will be appreciated. Thanks Dan.

Not sure if this helps but FIAM (spelling?) makes a replacement for just about any GM horn. Have the local parts store counter check out the part or goto NAPA they might have an exact replacement.

I had to replace the horn on my 96 SL2 and I couldn't find a non-Saturn horn which would work. They pretty well sewed up the market by putting the relay on the horn. I bought a Saturn replacement. At least I cheated them on labor by installing it myself.

I did the same thing. I couldn't find a horn. I bought a Saturn replacement. On the old horn and the replacement one the relay is potted. On the old horn where the potted relay is connected to the horn there was alot of rust. So on the new horn I ran a bead of silicone sealant around this whole area. I doubt I will own this car long enough to tell if this makes a difference. I also installed it myself. Very easy with help from searching this forum. I installed it on my 15 min. break at work. Dan

Just buy a generic 12v relay and mount it somewhere dry and close to any standard non-relay equipped replacement (or used) horn.

You do not need to repair a faulty design by installing identical and inferior parts.

Good luck, YMMV
