Re: Best Saturn web site forum

  1. I don't typically like the forums because they are awkward to navigate (I'm old school BBS, pre web).
1A. Enthusiast
  1. Over 40

Hey, just a quick poll. I see so many Saturn forums out there and I wonder

performance?

1.) Don't really have time for forums right now. This NG does most of what I need. 2.) Vehicle (old tractors, too) enthusiast in general, performance to the degree I can justify/afford it. I'm 44.

am an enthusiast, trying to learn all i can. I'm 27, on my way to 30. I would say at SatunSpot, most all membersare under 30, and many are just right around my age.

Thats how I feel. I hang out here a lot and once in awhile at SaturnSpot. I don't like the "strokers" at a lot of the forums who think they know everything and their car is fast. I'd rather help someone here who doesn't know what they need to do then someone who thinks he knows everything(like how their nology crapwires give them 10 horse).

Thats pretty much the same for me. I'm big into drag racing too.......

And, no, I'm not over 30 (I'm 20 to be exact.....but have turned enough wrenches to kinda sorta maybe know what I'm doing :) ).

Sounds about like me at 20. I always had a few knuckles busted open. A friend of mine has a farm with an excellent shop that he let a whole lot of us use. I got a lot of experience quick on a pretty good spectrum of American vehicles, + Japanese motorcycles. There were a few of us that were always there either working on our own or helping somebody else. Wish I had time for that now.

I pretty much just read this newsgroup, and I'm a member of the Saturn Performance Club mailing list. It's a great list for the technically inclined who don't want to put up with any bs. To me, forum posters seem to have a lot of ego, and there's way too much inaccurate or wrong info being perpetuated on them. Everyone speculates, not many speak from actual experience or even try to find someone who can.

You can see archives of previous Saturn Performance Club mailing list discussions, or sign up at:

about adding some performance?

All of the above. I've got a '94 SC2 I've driven daily for the last ten years, and a '92 SC which is strictly a track car. I like to tinker with the cars, as anyone who visits my website can see.

the age of 30? (or is my wife right?, lol)

I might be over 30. :)

I only go here. Wish I could spend time @ Joe's site.

I am 30. Just got rid of my Saturn to pay for my Regal Engine. Still hang out to try and occasionally offer advice ( mostly body shop/insurance help now though).

Oh Lane, I know you, lol. Youre one of those ppl whose website got me into this mess, haha. I wish that I had both the technical know-how, time and money that you and some others put into thier cars. Cool stuff.

However, at 40 (going on 21) I can say for myself that after being an FAA mechanic and sheet metal mechanic for years and also restoring a few classic mustangs I just simply gave it all up. Busted and stripped knuckles? oh yea.

As I can only afford used cars, it is ineviatable that I must still do some work myself now and then, but I have been blessed with 2 good mechanics that are affordable so I leave the heavy duty work to them. I usually do my own diagnostics first so I know why I am bringing my car in. So usually when I ask a question on a forum, its an oddball one that I cannot figure out.

Good to know that my wife is "wrong" and that I am not the only 30-40 something "kid" out there with a nice Saturn. Ill check out some of the aforementioned forums too, thanks! BTW- heres my Saturn site, a never ending work in progress, whaddya think?
