Price cuts of $37 to $287 on most cars in the 1955 Studebaker line were announced yesterday by the Studebaker-Packard Corporation.

The cars are to go on display in dealer showrooms throughout the metropolitan area Oct. 15. City-delivered prices will be given out then. The reductions affect twenty of the twenty-four body styles.

There are three series, with ten in Champion, ten in Commander and four in President models. The six-cylinder power plants have been stepped up from ninety to 101 horsepower for Champion and from 120 to 140 in the V-

8 Commander engines. The four President cars, which are 1955 additions to the line, have 175 horsepower V-8 engines. Among exterior changes are higher and wider hoods and new grille and bumper assembly.

The President state sedan has gold plate on door handles and other metal trim throughout the interior as well as similar treatment on the lower half of the hood ornament.

James J. Nance, president of the corporation, said engines in the President models have four barrel carburetors. Two barrels are cut in simply by depressing the accelerator pedal. This is said to provide an additional surge of power for a fast standing start or for passing at higher speed.

Tubeless tires are standard equipment on all of the cars. Conventional tires with tubes can be obtained on special order. Optional at extra cost on all models are automatic transmission, power brakes and padded instrument panel.

The company also announced its 1955 Studebaker truck line, ranging in gross weight from 4,000 to 16,000 pounds and wheelbases from 112 to 212 inches. Four new engines ranging from 92 to 175 horsepower are offered as well as automatic transmissions on lighter units.
