Interesting, Ray;

That's back when Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC) was the General Motors of the outboard motor industry. With both Johnson and Evinrude under their belt and being very similar products, they were King of The Hill.

General Motors hasn't fallen as far as did Outboard Marine, because Outboard Marine went belly-up several years ago and all the assets were bought by Bombardier (not sure of that spelling...)

Some things you thought you'd never live to see. The demise of Outboard Marine Corporation is one I never thought I'd see, for sure. (Spoken in reverence, even though I've only owned Mercury Outboards and consider OMCs to be stones compared with Mercurys... but that's another Ford-versus-Chevy argument that will never be settled!)

Thanks for the memorable post, Ray. BP

I've got a shirt that talks about Big Johnson brand shotguns...... You'll go deeper in the bush and always shoot twice when you packing a Big Johnson....
