Driveshaft hitting floorboard 1960 Lark

Hey guys hope you can help. My Lark is having some difficulties. The driveshaft is hitting the bottom of the floorboard when I first take off from a stop. I have a 3 speed transmission. I have replaced motor mounts, had the springs rearched, new shocks all the way around. I was checking underneath the other day and it seemed that the front of the drive shaft was off center to the passenger side. I guess the only reason I can see this because the Lark is a convertible so you have the big X frame under it. The only part that I have not replaced is the transmission mount. Is there any other reason why the driveshaft is hitting and off center. By the way the transmission in not the original and the rearend is Twin Traction if that makes any difference. Thanks for the help.

Where is the driveshaft hitting? At the transmission end or at the rear? If at the transmission end I would definitely suspect either a broken mount or a mount installed in the wrong holes. I believe it

*should* be slightly offset to the pass. side however.

Not sure why it would be hitting anything at the rear...

Weak rear springs???

Transmission mount or pinion angle. If you changed rear ends.

BINGO.... He is experiencing "spring-wrap" and the nose of the hogshead is tilting upward enough to cause the shaft to hit...

Either replace the rear springs with new, add a couple used leaves, or bolt on some snubber-type traction bars (cheap/quick).

Have you checked the u-joints? Badly worn Ujoints will allow the driveshaft to "chatter" against the floor on acceleration. At least that was the problem on mine...

change the tranny mounts.
