Global Warming and the Internet (OT...for those that know what OT means) (rant)

Damnit! Global warming is real! I was setting at my computer terminal, searching and reading new material to enrich my pitiful life and expand my knowledge base... And wham! Global warming smacked me upside the head. My local power grid glitched at a global warming induced bolt of lightning. This bolt of lightning had an agenda. It struck without warning, but only because we were ignorant to all of the omnipresent signs that it was going to strike. It had to. It was inevitable. We have caused global changes in our atmosphere large enough to cause mother nature to use Google to find out where the weakest link in the cable modem chain is. Electrons are our problem. We have no control over natures' electrons! Nature abhors a vacuum, and the internet abhors an on topic thread. This had to happen. My cable ISP provider just could not appreciate the warnings brought forth by a movie. We were warned. I think my ISP should be brought up on charges by the Kyoto court (is there one?) Oh, the humanity! WTF am I to do without cable service to feed my Internet affliction? Wait! I know who invented the Internet! He bragged on it a few years ago... Maybe he can help me! Oh.... He's busy right now... OK. He must be an important man. But can he come over to my house and fix my Internet problem? Is that asking too much? (But, being predictable excuses that....) Now I blame Bush for this outage... If he had not fixed the last two elections, my cable would have been fine... But alas... I wait in Internet darkness... I wait for my dark veil to be lifted.... I can have people explain the Coreolis effect, or the Wang Chung syndrome... ( I double dare you to tell me where and when Wang Chung came from (and what it means)...triple dare you!)... We have double Doppler and ESPN to show us the way... But alas... We are but mortal Studebaker people. We care about a stupid car and car company that quit forty years ago.... Is that wrong? No, but it pales in comparison to global warming, the string theory, and taking a good shit. This is a hobby, and we should just have fun with it. Everything else is just crap (oh, I just said that....).... Jeff ( Rant over...until next time ) Rice

How nice - feel better now?

I'd have thought you smarter than to parrot the infamous (and ludicrous) invented-the-internet talking point, but as it bashes the left, it's ok here. Have a brain - do a little research and find the truth of the statement. There's a vast difference between ignorance and stupidity. Stupidity can't really be helped, but ignorance is the ignoring (get the connection?) of readily available information, and it's pandemic. Jesus Christ on a jumped up crutch, all I suggested was that someone might be interested in some facts. Out of all the posts, pro and con (damn few pro, no surprise there) not ONE dealt with anything of substance related to the film - but ain't it grand how many could cite chapter and verse about how wrong it all is?

What's a "jumped up crutch"? Is it anything like a "rolling donut"?

Speaking of Jesus Christ, as a carpenter... I wonder what he said when he hit his thumb with a hammer or cut a board too short? Do you think he started a new job before finishing a previous one like most do today?

What were your panties twisting over again???

LOL! Just as I was thanking the gods for a much needed rain this afternoon, a bolt of global warming came down from the sky and took out my well pump...I'm blaming it on YOU Jeff....since I talked to you this morning complaining about our lack of rain...and it seems you have pissed off the gods of atmospheric electricity... One more time - I am not a Democrat.

If Cheney had made this film, I damn sure would have seen it. If it were the same film - you bet I would, and I'd be scratching my head trying to figure out why Cheney spent 30 years of his life working on something that didn't make him any, or much, money.

John, today was the third day of rain we have had for three months. Even that stupid "tropical storm" only gave us a sprinkle! I have cut the grass ONCE this year...the back forty looks like the sahara desert. The heat has been real rough...first time in years it actually got to me enough where I retreated into the office and AC for a little while last Friday. I am smarter. I ate at a Holiday Inn Express! You are taking all of this way too seriously. That's not my problem, so don't try to make it my problem. There is a lot of info out there. I read a lot of it, but admit that I didn't read a lot of it. That does not make one ignorant, nor smart. I like movies. I think 'Food of the God's' with Marjoe Gortner was an environmental eye opener on par with the latest creations. I'll stack my ignorance and stupidity up against the best and brightest of the ignorant and stupid. And then we can talk about Studebakers, which is what the heck this newsgroup is supposed to be about. You did a whole lot more than suggest. You trolled the newsgroup. That's ok, as long as it fed your need to do so. I don't really mind someone doing that. But to get all uppity when a jab comes back... That's lame and thin skinned. And then to name call. That's cheap and demeaning. And I expected so much more... Pro and con? Take this crap to the pro and con and global warming newsgroup (and I know not where that may be)... We talk about weighty matters here, like BBQ, and chili, and rust removal from Studebakers. I can go to the library if I want to be learned on book smart stuff... (Especially if they have picture books). I come to this newsgroup for Studebaker related entertainment, with occasional side trips to the amusing. Agenda's, and how the world is going to end is not fodder for Studebakers, nor does it border on the amusing. Forcing it in here will only bring the obvious, and deserved, verbal jousting. Don't get pissed off. It makes setting points on a Studebaker harder to do when you are laughing... Boy am I glad I stayed out of that other thread...hay Jeffy, MADE a center for that seal today; couldn't find one that fit and that number didn't work. Got a thick piece of cork gasket material and cut one. I think it will work just fine. I would still like to find someplace to get the felt for these things as that is all that needs replacement on all of them. I think the only reason the truck ones are cork is that they are a throwback to way back when and Stude never bothered changing them. Felt would work just as good as cork and all the car ones are felt... I was going to call you back with dimensions, but then the global warming strike came and put me in a crummy mood.... Good grief, when is this crap gonna end? Hasn't everybody insulted everybody else, as well as others' belief's enough, already? Guys, this is not the place to try to win folks over to your way of thinking, even when it comes to Studebakers.

I don't think Pat had "polilitical" intentions when he started the other thread, which somehow morphed into this thread.

But, I can't help but think that he had to know that some idiot would jump on it like a duck on a June bug.

Nobody here wants to hear what my thoughts are on these subjects, so I have given you the courtesy of not expressing them. Why the hell don't all the rest of you show everybody else the same courtesy? Do you REALLY think anybody else shivs a git about your thoughts on such matters? I guess you do, because so many of you have wasted bandwidth blowing smoke. Well, YOU ARE WRONG!

Most of the banter regarding this subject has not been educational, beneficial, thought provoking, humorous, cute, or anything else worthwhile. All I have seen is a bunch of blow-hards trying to blow harder than the other blow-hards. Give it a rest, and leave the rest of us the hell alone to enjoy this forum.
