Missing the good old days......OT (sigh)

Pat, give it up please, you are not in L.A. on the NG. You and Richard are about as far apart politically as is possible. When you see "I'd hate to think that some lurker would be watching and think that your opinions represent the opinions of the NG as a whole." it should give you pause. Calling a Vietnam war hero a traitor because he later protested the war is OK, but question the present administration and you are a likely to drive off a new Studebaker guy. You may be among the majority in the country that disapproves of the way the country is headed, but not on here. You are a liberal, a new curse word to some, you disagree with the present administration, and you'd better learn to keep quite if you are to the left of Ann Coulter.

BTW, I'll shut up again in hopes that you'll both go back to your respective corners.

Well, okay, maybe Carter could find an elephant in a phone booth if he had some help, but the rest of that looks spot on to me. And once again, you are mistaken, this is clearly a response. It is an attack, but this was a response to the attacks, to try and put things in a little perspective. Bush may not be your cup of tea, but JEEZ at least he's not Carter! Why then didn't your boy Slick willie take some of Carter's advice and do something in the way of a national energy policy during his eight years (thank's to Ross Perot)? Oh I know....never mind. You Libs like to make a big deal about the eight minutes Bush didn't do anything when he found out about the attacks on

9/11 while never thinking to ask what was Slick WIllie doing for eight YEARS. Once again, never mind we all know. In case you've forgotten the first trade center bombing was in '93. Thing about Bush is, I don't feel in the slightest that his policies are hurting me. Inflation is low, unemployment is low, new home sales are up, consumer confidence is up (highest in four years), I really liked that $400 check he sent me a few years ago (bought some Stude parts with that!), student loan interest rates are the lowest they have ever been, and he has completely exposed the left for who they are and what they stand for. All the way up and down my block people are having home renovations done, buying new cars, and getting new appliances. Yeah, times is tough ain't it. I know that's probably a few too many facts for you to take all at once, but that's how it is. The thing about the Slick WIllie quote you use there, that's the whole problem. If you want to live like a Republican (or at least how you Dems seem to think we all live. I've been a conservative even when I didn't have money to eat. That was when a Clinton was in office by the way.), you should get out there and work for it. I don't want my party to give me anything, or more precisely I don't want them to force someone else (that worked for it) to give me something for not doing anything other than voting them into office. The Dems are not going to give you or me a damn thing anyway. They are just going to take it from someone else and then they might give you something after taking a cut for themselves.

Well, she's a Hot Guy, then

Smart, too.

I haven't done the GYN check, but If there's a lottery to see who gets to do it, I'd buy a ticket.

BTW, Carter pissed me off for incompetence many many times. The guy has a genius level IQ, but that DOES NOT make him a good or great leader. He was a wishy washy appeaser.

I drove my Studebaker today.

Kerry has been nothing but a calculating sleazebag since his abbreviated RVN tour where most of his so called hero crap was also contrived.

Then there is the question of his post war record which begs the question, "WTF has he ever accomplished?"

What has Bush accomplished? Here's his resume - tongue in cheek for sure, but damn, there's a lot of truth:

Search Political Humor Political Humor George W. Bush's Resume

George W. Bush (Dubya) The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Ave., NW Washington, D.C. 20500

Past Work Experience

  • Ran for congress and lost. * Produced a Hollywood slasher B movie. * Bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas; company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock. * Bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money. Biggest move: Traded Sammy Sosa to the Chicago White Sox. * With father's help (and his name) was elected Governor of Texas.

Accomplishments in Previous Positions

  • Changed pollution laws for power and oil companies and made Texas the most polluted state in the Union. * Replaced Los Angeles with Houston as the most smog-ridden city in America. Cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas government to the tune of billions in borrowed money. * Set record for most executions by any governor in American history. * Became president after losing the popular vote by over 500,000 votes, with the help of my father's appointments to the Supreme Court.

Accomplishments As President

  • Attacked and took over two countries. * Spent the surplus and bankrupted the treasury. * Shattered record for biggest annual deficit in history. * Set economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any
12-month period. * Set all-time record for biggest drop in the history of the stock market. * First president in decades to execute a federal prisoner. * First president in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record. * First year in office set the all-time record for most days on vacation by any president in U.S. history. * After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, presided over the worst security failure in U.S. history. * Set the record for most campaign fundraising trips than any other president in U.S. history. * In my first two years in office over 2 million Americans lost their job. * Cut unemployment benefits for more out of work Americans than any president in U.S. history. * Set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period. * Appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions than any president in U.S. history. * Set the record for the least amount of press conferences than any president since the advent of television. * Signed more laws and executive orders amending the Constitution than any president in U.S. history. * Presided over the biggest energy crises in U.S. history and refused to intervene when corruption was revealed. * Presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history and refused to use the national reserves as past presidents have. * Cut healthcare benefits for war veterans. * Set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously take to the streets to protest me (15 million people), shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of mankind. * Dissolved more international treaties than any president in U.S. history. * My presidency is the most secretive and unaccountable of any in U.S. history. * Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in U.S. history (the 'poorest' multimillionaire, Condoleezza Rice, has an Exxon oil tanker named after her). * First president in U.S. history to have all 50 states of the Union simultaneously go bankrupt. * Presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud of any market in any country in the history of the world. * First president in U.S. history to order a U.S. attack and military occupation of a sovereign nation. * Created the largest government department bureaucracy in the history of the United States. * Set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases, more than any president in U.S. history. * First president in U.S. history to have the United Nations remove the U.S. from the human rights commission. * First president in U.S. history to have the United Nations remove the U.S. from the elections monitoring board. * Removed more checks and balances, and have the least amount of congressional oversight than any presidential administration in U.S. history. * Rendered the entire United Nations irrelevant. * Withdrew from the World Court of Law. * Refused to allow inspectors access to U.S. prisoners of war and by default no longer abide by the Geneva Conventions. * First president in U.S. history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 U.S. elections). * All-time U.S. (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations. * My biggest lifetime campaign contributor presided over one of the largest corporate bankruptcy frauds in world history (Kenneth Lay, former CEO of Enron Corporation). * Spent more money on polls and focus groups than any president in U.S. history. * First president in U.S. history to unilaterally attack a sovereign nation against the will of the United Nations and the world community. * First president to run and hide when the U.S. came under attack (and then lied saying the enemy had the code to Air Force 1) * First U.S. president to establish a secret shadow government. * Took the biggest world sympathy for the U.S. after 9/11, and in less than a year made the U.S. the most resented country in the world (possibly the biggest diplomatic failure in U.S. and world history). * With a policy of 'disengagement' created the most hostile Israeli-Palestine relations in at least 30 years. * Fist U.S. president in history to have a majority of the people of Europe (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and stability. * First U.S. president in history to have the people of South Korea more threatened by the U.S. than their immediate neighbor, North Korea. * Changed US policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts. * Set all-time record for number of administration appointees who violated U.S. law by not selling huge investments in corporations bidding for government contracts. * Failed to fulfill my pledge to get Osama Bin Laden 'dead or alive.' * Failed to capture the anthrax killer who tried to murder the leaders of our country at the United States Capital building. After 18 months I have no leads and zero suspects. * In the 18 months following the 9/11 attacks I have successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States. * Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in U.S. history. * In a little over two years created the most divided country in decades, possibly the most divided the U.S. has ever been since the Civil War. * Entered office with the strongest economy in U.S. history and in less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight down.

I'd be interested to see your resume, Mr. Red Bull. Don't you have a brother in England who's some big shot Red Bull executive? Bet that didn't help you get where you are. What did you do prior to getting handed this job?

I guess I just wanted to believe that John was trying to return this to a civil tone. Silly me. But yeah, after re-reading it I realize I was mistaken. He was just stirring the pot some more. Thing is Pat. I don't believe you are the type of person that would come on a STUDEBAKER group and start bashing someone else's religion or race. However, you seem to think it is perfectly acceptable to come on here and bash someone's political views and then act all aghast when someone says, "Bulls*** my God is better than your God." Get a grip.

That is a cheap shot Lee, and you know it. Why don't you just do what he did and go to the GOP version of their talking point website and cut and paste the whole thing and post it with a nana-nana-boo-boo comment. It is just too easy not to answer a direct question, but reply with a 'So what has your guy done' response. Both parties, their candidate, their nominee's, their winners, and their losers, are all pretty lame. But blaming everyone else is just as lame. If you lost... Work at getting your guy elected. Just do it with class and style. If you can't do that.. You become as bad as them and it explains a lot about the person. If you won... Get your friggin' ass to work to keep the promises you made, and do a good job of it. Don't gloat, or you look as bad as the loser. You'd best show some class... Jeff

You missed my point Dick. I wasn't taking a side with either Pat, or Lee. I was pointing out that Lee reverts to attacking the man personally because he now hates his guts because of what he wrote. I see potential friendships torn apart because someone feels a side 'must' be taken and battle lines 'must' be drawn. How childish. My comments about the parties and their candidates stands true. If you can't run good candidates that can win because of the system you set up.... What do you expect? If your candidate is going to get X% because your trained partisan is going to vote that way no matter what? Why bother getting a truly good candidate. Get one you can train, or mold, or manipulate. I am not just talking about the top. I am talking about the whole damned lot of them. We, as citizens have only ourselves to blame for this. We don't want to go and do the job, so we send people to do it for us. Now we don't even want to watch them closely. We just want goodies. That was not how this country was set up. (And I won't even go into religion in politics here, but that is also a huge part of the problem)... WTH does South Bend have to do with anything? And what points are to be gained and lost where? I don't get it. Jeff
