My new '57 Packard wagon

Went to look at the Packard wagon I mentioned yesterday- just couldn't pass it up. It does have the rust that 58packardwagon mentioned, but not too bad. It is 100% original- shows 59,000 miles. One door is dented, the rockers are rusty and the floor has some rust, but I've seen lots worse. Some dummy pushed it with a forklift and messed up the grille, but the car comes with a straight bumper and a NOS grille (plus the hood trim strip). It has a WCFB on it, but the correct blower is with it as is the 2bbl, airbox and manifold. Unfortunately, the s/c brackets don't appear to be there. The cloth is shot, but is all there and original. The dash looks good though the padding under the cover must be bad as it is a little wavy. I forgot to see if it had a signal-seeking radio. There are several extra air cleaners, an extra carb and air box and a stack of used Packard wheel covers with it. The PO even put a new battery in it (though it isn't running) and he is delivering it to me on his rollback. To see it:

It's quite saveable, but will require a lot of hard work. The hubcaps look very nice, how did they escape damage I wonder?

The PO is selling the Packard because he want to finish restoring the convertible which is the only white '51 Fraser four-door convertible built. He sold a green one recently to a middle east sheik for $125,000. He is a realistic man. He is 72 years old and said he can't restore everything he has so he's getting rid of projects. Paul Johnson

Oh my! The straightest part I saw in all your pic's were the rafters in your shop .. Jeff (You are a brave man!) Rice

Actually, those were the PO's rafters (framing?) in his basement which was chock-a-block with Kaiser parts. My rafters are crooked too. Paul Johnson

Well, the Kaiser is nice. You're a better man than me to tackle that wagon.

Sasco has the right side overlay panels for the quarters. I have some other spare parts from mine. Let me know what you need, maybe I can help.

I love the '57-58 Packards but OTOH, you're a brave guy! I don't want any more projects even if they are totally rust free...

Great find. Plus a supercharger. I see they also switched out the oil filler/breather tube. Did you find one in the rear cargo area that is curved? If you have a trailer I have every body panel you need....either nos or unrusted used, except for the front metal piece under the grill. Every spare that I have looked at was broke too. One part that is tougher than nails to find is the plastic emblem on the tailgate. I would gently remove it and put it in a safe place. Other than that plastic emblem everything else is easily locatable. Best of luck on our restoration. Let me know it I can assist with parts. I live by Minneapolis MN.

I sure looks 100 percent better than my 59 wagon.

Easily locatable? Please tell me where I can get the rubber for the rear door window vents. I can't find them anywhere.
