Well I don't say this about the NYT too often, but I think the article was fair. They were very clear that they were only talking about investment value.

I'm in the part of the hobby that would just as soon have the cocaine-and-helicopter boys scared off. For "us as swink," having a car for

20 years and seeing that it's worth more than we paid for it is a real thrill.

Sure, you'd like the Auburn crowd there when you're selling. But most of us only sell to buy another one.

I'm no longer into performance cars, just those that get seen. As I say when people ask me, "For years I drove Toyotas which were just great as trans[ortation. No one ever came up and told me about a Toyota their Uncle had, but you would be surprised at how many uncles had Studebakers."

That's why I have one for my "Daily Driver"

I was offered a Caddy like the one in the picture, only brown, just yesterday. I declined even before I heard a price. The fellow that has it thinks its worth a lot, but there is way too much work to be done on it before it is worth anything close to "a lot."
